Former Colombian soccer player Freddy Rincón, who played for Real Madrid and Corinthians, among other teams, has died at the age of 55 after not recovering from injuries caused in a traffic accident last Monday in the Colombian city of Cali.
The death has been confirmed by the medical chief of the Imbanaco Clinic, Laureano Quintero, in a statement to the press together with the children of the former soccer player. “Despite all the efforts of our work team, Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia has passed away,” he said.
According to witnesses, the driver of the car in which the historic footballer was traveling, with three other people, would have skipped the red light and crashed into a bus. Rincón was admitted to the hospital with a severe head injury and had to be operated on and transferred to intensive care, but has not been able to recover from the serious injuries.
