Civil Guard agents picked him up in a van from the landing strip. After the interrogation he was released. Rubiales also risks being accused of sexual assault, after the kiss on the mouth given to player Jenni Hermoso during the awards ceremony of the last women's football World Cup, won by Spain. The manager had spoken of a consensual gesture, but the player had denied it, defining it as abuse. That affair had cost Rubiales the presidency of the Football Federation.
