A while ago, Pep Guardiola seemed unstoppable for Manchester City on their way to the league title. Now it’s Liverpool FC’s turn again. Jürgen Klopp’s team wins comfortably at Arsenal.
Tteam manager Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool have made the title race in the English Premier League really exciting again. The Reds won the catch-up game at Arsenal 2-0 (0-0) on Wednesday evening and, after their eighth league win in a row, moved up to one point behind leaders Manchester City with 69 points. On April 10, Liverpool takes on City.
In London, Diogo Jota (54th) and former Hoffenheimer Roberto Firmino (62nd) scored for the guests, who won against Arsenal for the fourth time in a row (12-1 goals) in the Premier League. The Gunners, who lost for the first time since January 1 (2-1 to Man City), are fourth on 51 points but have played two games fewer than the top duo. National goalkeeper Bernd Leno only sat on the bench as usual.
Some time ago it looked as if the championship would be decided for the very dominant Manchester City. Two months ago, the lead was eleven points. But recently Pep Guardiola’s team lost a few points. On Monday evening there was only a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace. City dominated at Selhurst Park for long stretches and also had the better chances to score. Joao Cancelo (27′) and Kevin De Bruyne (58′) were unlucky to hit the post.
