Milan – «Paulo Fonseca will be the new coach of Milan. We studied him well, we chose him to bring his identity to those players we have with a dominant and attacking game. To bring something different from Pioli, who I thank for what he did for Milan, whoever wins makes history and for this I want to thank him.” As Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a press conference at the Milanello Sports Center to present the next Rossoneri season: «We are very confident». Thus came the confirmation of an increasingly insistent rumor that had been circulating for a few weeks now. Ibra’s words followed a note from the company: «AC Milan announces that it has entrusted the technical management of the men’s first team to Paulo Fonseca. The Portuguese coach now joins Milan on a three-year contract. The Club extends a warm welcome to Paulo and his collaborators.”
Ibra: “Conte not for us”
Ibra then talks about the hypotheses that have circulated regarding the Rossoneri bench: «Conte is a great coach, but with all due respect, he wasn’t what we were looking for. In the newspapers every day there was a different coach: Ibra wanted one, Moncada another, Furlani another, Cardinale a fourth, the fans a fifth… There is a rumor going around and a reality. We discussed some names that we put on the table and talked about what was best for the team. And in the end Fonseca was better.”
