Flavio Briatore underwent heart surgery at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan for a rare disease. The news was released today by the entrepreneur with a video published on his Instagram profile but the operation took place on March 19 and was performed by the heart surgeon Francesco Maisano.
As reports the news agency's Health service Adnkronos, Flavio Briatore was discharged yesterday after a minimally invasive operation, performed via endoscopic thoracotomy, with extracorporeal circulation. The entrepreneur, known for his politically incorrect statements, underwent surgery for a benign heart tumor, a rare form of neoplasm that represents only 0.02 percent of all tumors that affect humans.
Often, as in the case of Flavio Briatore, this pathology is identified by chance. The discovery, the manager underlined in his video, in fact occurred thanks to a routine check. “Medical prevention is fundamental!”, said the entrepreneur in the video. “Following a routine check-up, I underwent heart surgery as I had a benign mass which was removed minimally invasively, using an endoscopic technique.”
“The surgery was a perfect success,” added Flavio Briatore. “And I warmly thank Prof. Francesco Maisano, the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Team and the legendary 1st Q Department of San Raffaele”. Alongside the entrepreneur, during the days of hospitalization, there was also his ex-wife Elisabetta Gregoraci and his son Nathan Falco, both thanked by Flavio Briatore in the video.
“But the main thing is to do prevention, I did it two years ago and this benign tumor wasn't there and this year it was, so we shouldn't neglect ourselves: prevention, I'm telling you I passed, it's fundamental,” added the entrepreneur. “Ten days in hospital and here I am, starting again tomorrow”. “They were intense and difficult days but we overcame them together,” he said written instead on Instagram Elisabetta Gregoraci, who was married to Flavio Briatore from 2008 to 2017.
