Flag Ball | Finland’s girls celebrate the European Championship bronze in a new Olympic sport – Linda Juvala is the tournament’s most valuable player

The Finnish team was made up of athletes from six sports.

Finland On Sunday, the under-17 girls’ national team celebrated the EC bronze in their age group in the new Olympic sport of flag football.

Finland defeated Italy 25–14 in the bronze medal match of the EC tournament played in Serbia. Playmaker Linda Juvala17, was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

“This is absolutely amazing. I’m so proud of this whole team and everything. I still don’t even understand what happened, but it was a good evening”, Juvala was happy.

Juvala is also a member of the girls’ national team in handball, her first sport. He is the kind of athlete that the Finnish American Football Association (SAJL) has been looking for.

“The tournament proved our assumptions to be true, as it were. That this is such an easy game that it can be taught in half a year, if the background is athletic,” a member of the team’s coaching team Juuso Marno quoth.

Finland in addition to American football, the bronze team had players from handball, basketball, soccer, athletics and baseball.

Yankee futars were in the minority, as only one of them could be included.

“Both our athlete with a triple jump background, as well as those with a handball and basketball background, performed amazingly,” marveled Marno.

The recent medalists did not get to celebrate their achievement in the swimming pool of their accommodation, which had been closed in time. The medals were enjoyed in the shower and by singing together.

“We’ve had a great team spirit the whole way, and everyone has been cheering each other on,” Juvala said.

“I am proud and also grateful to the whole team and the coaches, because this would not have turned out this way otherwise,” said Juvala, who was successful in both the throwing and running games.

Finland threw hard flag balls in Serbia. Both the reigning European champion Great Britain and the bronze team of the previous games, Austria, lost to the blue and whites.

“We had a great team full of great athletes and great young women, as evidenced by the MVP award won by Linda Juvala”, Marno was happy.

“This group was together for the first time, but I think all of them will stay with the sport.”
