First C in Colombian soccer takes steps to become a reality

A match from the last Primera C in Colombia.

The issue was discussed at the recent meeting of the Football Federation.

One of the news from the ordinary assembly of the Colombian Football Federationwhich took place this Thursday in Bogotá, was the support of the leaders for the First C tournament that has been pushed for a long time.

As it became known after the assembly, the idea that the leaders have is that this year’s champion in the amateur division tournament, organized by Difútbol, be invited to the B championship from 2023.

This would be the initial step to give prominence to the C tournament in Colombian soccer.

Subsequently, the idea is to establish promotion and relegation in these divisions of national football.

It is expected that in the month of April, in an extraordinary assembly, the details will be finalized so that this initiative becomes a reality.

Álvaro González, president of Difútbol, previously said on Win Sports that “The first C is a necessity for Colombian soccer.”

He clarified that only two countries in the world, including Colombia, do not have promotion and relegation in all categories, that is why the motivation to carry out the C.

Already last year the idea was being discussed. It was even projected that the champion team of C in 2021 would be invited to participate in B in 2022, which did not happen.
