Half a hectare of abandoned crops with almond trees has burned
Firefighters from the Murcia Region Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium (CEIS), together with Civil Protection personnel, managed to control a vegetation fire declared this Thursday on some abandoned terraces near the Moratalla cemetery. In total, half a hectare of abandoned crops with almond trees has burned.
The Emergency Coordination Center received calls reporting the fire at 11:53 am. Callers warned that the flames were spreading fast and could affect nearby homes. Local Police patrols, Moratalla Civil Protection personnel, an environmental agent and CEIS firefighters were mobilized to the scene.
Barely an hour after it started, at 12:39 p.m. the firefighters had controlled the fire and prevented it from affecting the buildings. Later a forestry brigade came to complete the extinction.
