Finnish language “One of my grandmothers started shouting that it was Sörkka”

Place names are not any signs on the map, they can evoke strong emotions in people. The names carry cohesion and a wide range of strata – and the place names in Helsinki are quite special in Finnish.

In Helsinki Behind the fire hay library is a small plateau and staircase. The passerby thinks the structure may not be either. But that’s what he’s wrong about.

In the evenings and after school, this is a favorite hangout for local youth called Bägis. That name is not known to many, and well, for it is not for all.

“Come to Bägis,” the youth says.
