the deputy Lincoln Portela (PL-MG) was elected vice president of the Chamber this Wednesday (25.May.2022). The congressman replaced Marcelo Ramos (PSD-AM), removed from office on the 2nd (May 23) by the President of the House, Arthur Lira.
Portela received 232 votes from the Plenary of the House, was sworn in and has already taken command of the session, while Lira was absent for a few minutes.
In addition to him, the deputies contested for vice-presidency:
Deputies were elected to the 2nd and 3rd Secretariats. Odair Cunha (PT-MG), with 325 votes, and Geovânia de Sá (PSDB-SC), with 380 votes, respectively.
From Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Portela has a degree in theology, was a TV presenter – today he runs a YouTube channel, is a Baptist pastor and president of the Solidarity Baptist Church.
He was assistant secretary of Sports of the City of Belo Horizonte, during the government of Célio de Castro. Lincoln also worked at Record Mines Network, Women’s Network, Super Network and Channel 13 BH. Currently, it presents Super Conversation Programgives Super Television Network on Youtube.
He is in his 6th term as a federal deputy and, in the Chamber, is part of the Evangelical Bench, which corresponds to the base of the government.
Despite this, the nomination to the position of vice president of the House represented a defeat for the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who wanted the Major Victor Hugo (PSL-GO) in the dispute. Portela was nominated by Deputy Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ), president of the Evangelical Bank.
He was chosen by the PL bench by 21 votes to 19 and became the official candidate of the party.
