Al-Ahly said in a statement: “Based on Al-Ahly’s great confidence in its coach, Musimani, and a translation of the many achievements he achieved with his players and his assistant staff during the last period, the club’s management announces the renewal of Musimani’s contract for the next two years, other than the current season.”
Musimani and his assistants had signed the new contracts, after the two parties reached a final agreement to increase his monthly salary and the penalty clause in his contract, without announcing the value of his salary or the penalty clause.
The South African coach assumed responsibility for Al-Ahly’s technical management, succeeding Swiss Rene Weiler in October 2020, and led him to win the African Champions League twice, in 2020 at the expense of his traditional rival Zamalek, and in 2021 at the expense of the South African Kaizer Chiefs.
He also won the 2021 African Super Championships at the expense of the Moroccan Berkane Renaissance, 2022 and Moroccan Raja Casablanca, and was crowned with the bronze medals of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2021 and Abu Dhabi 2022, in addition to the Egypt Cup 2020, while he lost the two Egyptian League championships last season in favor of Zamalek, and the local Super by losing to Vanguard of the Army on penalties 2-3.
Musimani expressed his happiness at renewing his contract with Al-Ahly of Egypt, and said in a video filmed at Cairo Airport before traveling the team’s mission to South Africa to face Sundowns on Saturday, in the fourth stage of the group stage of the African Champions League: “I am very happy today, a lot of good things happened, the team played Well, they beat Pyramids 3-0 and we topped the league.”
The South African coach thanked the club’s president, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, “for his trust in me and his board of directors and their belief in me. I am happy to be with Al-Ahly.”
