Yet, over the years, several companies outside Ferrari have tried to replicate this type of product, since none of the more than 7,000 Testarossa units built by Ferrari came in a production version with a soft top. The car, which is in very good condition, has been driven alone until today 413 kilometers. The story of this Testarossa Pininfarina Spider “Special Production” is very particular: at the beginning of the 90s, the company had been commissioned to make seven almost identical (but ultimately unique) “Spider” adaptations for Brunei Royalty, each finished with a different combination of exterior and interior colors. In addition to these seven units, however, very few Testarossa Spiders were built for other important customers: one of these is the one who wanted to sell this model, which to date has never been used for road use.

The excellent shape of this Testarossa Spider was guaranteed every time it changed hands: after a team from Pininfarina repainted the car, refreshed the interior and restored the soft top to put it in fully functional condition. , the Zanasi bodywork, the same that takes care of the finishes of all modern Ferrari supercars, has decided to undergo a complete mechanical restoration, including the installation of a new clutch and a new fuel pump. Even today, therefore, the car is in perfect condition to take to the road. RM Sotheby’s estimates that the selling price will be between 1.6 and 2 million dollars: not exactly pennies, but it is also true that we are faced with an absolute rarity that every Prancing Horse enthusiast would like to own.
