There is a significant media implication regarding Brad Pitt’s next film on F1 which will be released in June 2025. Yes, because, when the film is in cinemas, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton – co-producer and great protagonist of the film – will take on the role of Ferrari. And for the Maranello company there will be a singular involvement in a completely pending and totally unknown cinematographic operation. Filming began in fact last year and will continue during some weekends of this season, but everything is now decided given that the production of the film will be completed on the occasion of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the season, in December.
Nobody knows the plot, the image implications for the whole of F1 and obviously for Ferrari. We only know that the story stars Brad Pitt as a former driver who returns to Formula One alongside Damson Idris, who plays his rookie teammate, at the APX Team. Of course, things were done in a big way. Indeed in a very big way: the film will be made with the collaboration of teams and drivers and will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose “Top Gun: Maverick” grossed 1.49 billion dollars worldwide, with Jerry Bruckheimer as producer. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in theaters and IMAX. Other cast members include Oscar winner Javier Bardem and best supporting actress nominee Kerry Condon.
But what if it all turns out to be a ridiculous staging that will horrify F1 fans? The spirit of the film is obviously to strengthen the appeal of the Netflix docu-series “Drive to Survive”, which has increased the popularity and growth of Formula One around the world and particularly in the key market of the United States. Something that certainly does not reassure lovers of this wonderful sport. We will see.
