Inspired by the iconic Sport Prototypes of the past, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 has expanded the exclusive Icona del Cavallino program through a car that pays homage to the past while aiming straight at the future thanks to a modern and bold stylistic language. After the static debut at the Mugello Finali Mondiali, the brand’s new supercar was finally spotted on the road near the Maranello factory, with a partially camouflaged livery.
The limited edition of the Emilian brand thus appeared for the first time in motion, five months after the world premiere, with the carscooper Varryx who took over the supercar with the V12 leaving the factory in Maranello. The covers on the bodywork suggest that this may be a development model, probably a pre-production that Ferrari is using to carry out the last tests before the start of deliveries of the only 599 units planned, all already sold, which will start to run. from the fourth quarter of 2022. The new Ferrari Daytona SP3 boasts several solutions borrowed from Formula 1, with the use of composite materials. The integration of different elements in the frame made it possible to lower the center of gravity and lighten the car: thus the Ferrari Daytona SP3 weighs only 1485 kg dry, with a balance of 44 forward and 56 rear. The heart of the third Icon is the aforementioned twelve 65 ° V-shaped cylinders with a 6.5 displacement capable of delivering 840 HP at 9,500 rpm. Located in the rear-central position, also in this case important work has been done on weight reduction, with the adoption of titanium connecting rods, which guarantee a 40% lightening compared to steel, and the use of a new material for making the pistons. The performance are once again unique, with top speeds exceeding 340 km / h and the ability to sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.85 seconds and burn the 0-200 in 7.4.
After the Monza SP1 and SP2, a tribute to the great boats of the past, the Italian brand was inspired by a new concept, derived from the racing world and in particular from the universe of Sport Prototypes and the victories obtained by the Reds. Above all, the feat at the 24 Hours of Daytona on February 6, 1967 which saw three Ferraris, the 330 P3 / 4, the 330 P4 and the 412 P parade. The unit price for Italy of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 has been set at 2 million euros.
