For the Ferrari 812 Superfast and GTS it could be time for the first step towards the farewell to the price list. According to Australian media reports, the Prancing Horse would have decided not to accept any more orders for these models, without hybrid technology and all in all ‘dated’, on a global scale. Production will continue until all orders already planned and accepted have been completed, and only then will the factory history for these cars be definitively closed.
The Australian site Drive quoted the words of a spokesperson for the Ferrari market in the Australasia area, which would have confirmed the global closure of the order book for the 812 Superfast models and related GTS version. “There are no plans to reintroduce orders for these cars. However, we cannot provide further information on the production timeline“Said aforementioned spokesman.
With this decision, Ferrari will be able to leave even more space for the start of operations relating to the Thoroughbred SUV in the course of 2022, launching a new phase for the brand’s range. In fact, with the salute to the Superfast and GTS versions, and with the confirmation of the sold-out for the 812 Competizione, it should still remain on the future list of models available only for the 812 Competizione Aperta. In this way, the 812 generation will be present in Maranello until 2023.
There is still no noteworthy information on the possible model that will succeed the 812 after 2023. In the past there has been talk of a car, with factory code F167, equipped with a hybrid V12 engine. The 812 was presented at the 87th edition of the Geneva Motor Show in 2017. Powered by a new 6.5-liter V12 engine, capable of delivering 800 hp, with 80% of the maximum torque of 718 Nm already available at 3500. revolutions / minute. The fastback connotation recalls the 365 GTB4 of 1969. The car debuted with the Seventy Years Red color, created specifically to celebrate the anniversary of the Prancing Horse.
