LIRA DISCARDS PL OF FAKE NEWS
On April 9, the president of the Chamber, Lira, stated that the leaders of the Casa Baixa decided to create a working group to discuss the regulation of social networks.
According to the deputy, the PL of fake newsreporting by Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP) was controversial and faced resistance to be taken to the vote.
The regulation of social networks is one of the priority themes of Congress and is highly defended by the government. The content of the text as it stands today must be discarded and a new rapporteur will be defined.
The debate on platform regulation gained more strength this year after the owner of X (formerly Twitter) Elon Musk criticized the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and accused Dean Alexandre de Moraes of “censorship”. However, Lira denies that the South African tycoon's statements influenced the decision.
