Politicians are caught in the most difficult situations and there are none more revealing than major catastrophes. This is even more true of those who have specific responsibilities in an Administration. It also applies to those who do not have it, but who aspire to one day become president of a Government. In the latter case, they are required to help in whatever way they can and not to put a spanner in the works. Let them think that their country is at that moment above the immediate interests of their party. In short, do not do what Alberto Núñez Feijóo has done these days.
The leader of the Popular Party has made it his priority to save the head of Carlos Mazón, president of the Valencian Government. This involved preventing at all costs his losing his command powers in the face of the crisis caused by DANA and ignoring his mistakes made since Tuesday. First, he looked for the photo. The same Tuesday, he got it in Letur, Albacete. The next day, he traveled to Valencia, where he met with Mazón. First of all, he declared the victory of the autonomous governments, which still did not know what they were facing, and complained that citizens ask these presidents for “additional responsibility,” when in reality it is not additional, but rather the powers that are assigned to them because that is how it appears in the Constitution and its statutes.
