Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation”, congratulated the women and girls of the United Arab Emirates on the occasion of the country’s celebration of Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28 of each year, which is held This year, under the slogan “An inspiring reality.. a sustainable future.”
In her speech on this occasion, Her Highness said: “This historic occasion that we celebrate today fills our hearts with pride and pride in the successes and achievements of Emirati women. You are the light and light of the blessed renaissance of the Emirates. In various fields, we believe in you and support you, and we will remain by your side to reach the horizons of excellence and leadership.” Her Highness affirmed that the celebration of Emirati Women’s Day cannot pass without recalling with all reverence and gratitude what the founding leader and builder of the renaissance of the Emirates, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, gave, who had a powerful ability and insight to anticipate the future and the capabilities of the people of the nation. Males and females alike have a pivotal role in comprehensive development, so he was keen to include support and empowerment of women in various fields and considered one of the national constants since the establishment of the state, and made the care and protection of their rights and interests a strategic goal for the state, for which the state enacted laws, and put in place legislative, regulatory and procedural frameworks necessary to make the principle of partnership between men and women an actual practice of life, by providing the necessary capabilities to provide the best opportunities for women’s education and rehabilitation, enhancing their health capabilities, introducing them to the labor market, and providing the appropriate environment for their development. The country’s leaders are following in his footsteps in this approach so that the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, continue his victorious march, and the process of construction and development continues. Under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, the process of empowering women is proceeding on its intended path, and the features of the state’s leadership in the file of supporting and empowering women become a reality witnessed by the achievements of Emirati women in all fields.
First challenges
Her Highness spoke about the first challenges and how the conviction of the necessity and importance of supporting and empowering women crystallized to advance the process of sustainable development in the country. We faced at that time, the most prominent of which was the education file, as we established the Abu Dhabi Women’s Development Association in 1973, which had a prominent role in combating illiteracy and providing the opportunity for education for women in all their circumstances and at any stage of their life. The association was a challenge, an impressive success and pioneering experiences for women who completed Their educational career, they joined the university, graduated and played practical roles in serving their country.”
Her Highness concluded: “I hope that every woman will pursue her dream and seek distinction according to her skills, abilities and experiences that God has bestowed upon her, to be able to serve her family, community and country. In this regard, I am pleased to extend my feelings of appreciation, respect and praise to every woman who has devoted herself to her work to support the development process of her country and has striven to foresee a brighter, more developed and splendid future for her community. on the face of the earth because of its great impact on preparing the sons and daughters of the homeland and preserving the authentic Arab culture and identity.”
Create women’s associations
Her Highness continued: “To continue the state’s efforts and development initiatives, which resulted in the establishment of women’s associations in all emirates of the country, until the efforts of all associations were unified under the scope of the General Women’s Union in 1975, to support the process of empowering women in all fields, since its history.. The union has been established General Women, a qualitative leap in the system of women’s work in the United Arab Emirates, establishing an approach based on supporting, developing and promoting best international practices to advance Emirati women’s issues and promoting gender balance, which is a priority in the national action agenda, and made great efforts in formulating policies related to women and setting Strategies that contributed to providing a suitable and incubating environment for its creative national innovations in all sectors and fields of government and private agencies in the country. Her Highness expressed her pride in the honorable achievements of Emirati women, according to which she has become a source of pride and inspiration for all her peers from the whole world. Her Highness said: “We are on the cusp of a new stage, paralleled by a passion for an ambitious vision to create a future worthy of Emirati women and keep pace with the amazing progress made by the state with the will of its leadership. The rationale and the dedication of its loyal people, inspired by the ambition of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Women’s support and empowerment file
Her Highness said: We are looking forward to the daughter of the Emirates pioneering the horizons of leadership in the file of supporting and empowering women and providing an inspiring model that becomes a reference and an example to follow according to the best mechanisms and methodologies, especially after the process of Emirati women’s advancement recorded a clear reflection in the rates of their participation in various sectors, as the number of women members in the various sectors increased. The Federal National Council from 9 to 20 women out of 40 total members in the latest round of elections and appointments with a female representation of 50%, which is considered one of the highest rates of women’s participation in parliamentary work in the world, in addition to the rate of women’s participation in ministerial seats reaching 27.5 % of the total members of the Council of Ministers, where women occupy 9 ministerial seats, and this is also one of the highest global rates, in addition to the fact that the percentage of women in diplomatic work has reached nearly 30%.
Emirati women in development sectors
Her Highness added: Emirati women have also recorded high rates in various sectors, such as: the media, culture and arts sector, the education sector, and the health sector. Emirati women occupy 64% of the total jobs in the education and health care sectors, and 23,000 Emirati female entrepreneurs manage projects worth more than 50 One billion dirhams, and the percentage of women’s participation in the scientific team of the Emirates Mars Exploration Project reached 34%, which is the highest in the world. Her Highness cautioned that what was mentioned is only a brief summary of the achievements of the United Arab Emirates in the file of women’s empowerment, so that the year 2022 culminates in the United Arab Emirates achieving tremendous progress in global competitiveness indicators in bridging the gender gap, where the country ranked 68 out of 146 A country at the world level and first place at the level of Arab countries, which represents a global testimony to the extent of the great support provided by the wise leadership to women in various fields and at various levels.
