8 overall wins, 6 consecutive, 219 points and first place in the drivers’ standings. In mid-season these are the numbers fielded by Andrea Kimi Antonelli who also in Vallelunga, as seen at Spa-Francorchamps, was the absolute protagonist of the weekend, obtaining three victories in all three races.
After the unfortunate round of Imola, which ended with just one point, Antonelli was able to immediately show what he was made of and today, in the fourth round of the year, he is firmly leading the standings after having recovered the gap from Camara.
Also in Race 3 Kimi started perfectly from pole and immediately took command of operations, while behind him Wurz tried to undermine Rafael Camara.
The first half of the race was masterfully administered by Antonelli, capable of bringing the advantage over Camara to over 2 seconds, while behind the PREMA duo there was a very tough duel between Wharton and Bedrin for seventh place.
The situation became more intense with 16 minutes remaining when the safety car was forced to intervene on the track to allow the stewards to remove Alfio Spina’s car which ended up in gravel after a puncture on the rear left.
Antonelli thus saw his advantage over Camara canceled but, as happened in Race 2, also in this case at the restart he managed to perfectly manage the Brazilian having an eye for the tires.
The gap between the two has never been less than 9 tenths, but that was enough for Kimi to pass in first position under the checkered flag and once again conclude a perfect weekend.
Camara had to settle for second place, but with this result he managed to redeem the bitterness for his retirement in Race 2. Antonelli’s 36 points behind in the standings are many, but not such as to prevent the Ferrari Driver. Academy to abandon the dreams of winning the title.
The restart after the safety car returned to the pits allowed the PREMA team to take home a great poker. Behind Charlie Wurz, third on the finish line, came a James Wharton who was very good at taking advantage of the chaos unleashed among the US Racing drivers.
The fight between Amand and Dunne cost them both dearly. The Frenchman, in an attempt to resist his teammate, reported the breaking of the front wing and thus fell to seventh place, while the Irishman was forced to retire after having remedied the puncture of the rear right.
Taking advantage of this chaos, in addition to Wharton, were also Taylor Barnard, Kacper Sztuka and Nihil Borha respectively fifth, sixth and seventh.
Excellent evidence provided by Maya Weug who this season is confirming an excellent potential by constantly managing to enter the top 15. The Iron Dames driver raced a really solid race, characterized by zero smudges, finished in eighth position.
The top 10 of Race 3 ended with Stenshorne ninth ahead of Domingues tenth at the end of a race conducted with a knife between his teeth.
The Formula 4 drivers will now take a break until mid-September when they return to the Red Bull Ring for round 5 of the season.
