Any hope of a comeback in the league is fading away Theo Pourchaire, protagonist of a post-summer break recovery absolutely to be forgotten. The French of the ART Gran Prix, after being forced to retire in Race-2 at Spa due to a technical problem, did not reach the checkered flag even in today’s qualifying at Zandvoort, this time for his mistake; nine minutes into the session, the Frenchman lost control of his car at the entrance to turn 3, finishing against barriers.
Finding himself in fourth position at the time of the accident – following which the Race Direction intervened with the red flag – the 19-year-old then gradually lost positions with the continuation of qualifying and the improvement of the track, retreating until 16th place definitive. Quite the opposite, however, for his direct opponent Felipe Drugovich. The Brazilian, in addition to having conquered the pole positionhas also stretched in the overall standings on the Frenchman, who is currently lagging behind 45 points on the third to last round of the championship.

The qualifying, entirely dominated by the MP Motorsport standard bearer, ended after one second red flag exposed 4 minutes from the end, in this case for a spin of Jehan Daruvala. At the restart, only a few cars took to the track in an attempt to improve their time, with the goal not achieved by anyone. In this way, Drugovich will start in front of everyone in Sunday’s Race-2, sharing the front row with Jack Doohanin turn followed by Logan Sargeant. The two drivers, moreover, will try to take advantage of Pourchaire’s misstep to get closer to the French in the ranking. As for Race-1, scheduled for Saturday at 17:00, the start at the pole will always be in the hands of an MP Motorsport driver, but who in this case will respond to the name of Clemant Novalak.
