There are 1,066 numbered copies, like Michael Schumacher’s championship points in Formula 1. The format is not that of a classic book, but it is special, very special as a painting can be (34×56 cm). Indeed, to be precise, there are 51 works printed on Fedrigoni 280 gram paper with a particular procedure that allows you to mix the six colors of the hexachromia to give great brightness to the image and also a chromatic stability over time.
Filippo Di Mario’s book “Schumacher50: Images of a story of love and passion”
The work in the new “Silver” edition of “Schumacher50” is the latest found by Filippo Di Mario, a photographer friend of the German champion who turned into an artist, reworking with brushes those images that his proximity to the Kaiser had allowed him to shoot during the amazing Ferrari adventure.
Last year, just on January 3, he launched a great work to celebrate Michael’s 50th birthday: a sophisticated, highly technological container that contained fifty works that have been transfigured from being photography into a painting.
From the news to the myth, passing through a shot that recounted the best moments of Schumacher’s Ferrari career, on the track as well as in private.

Di Mario had the privilege of enjoying Michael’s friendship and, therefore, allowed himself a closeness to the German champion that went far beyond that granted to a photographer accredited to the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The original work, issued in only 50 copies, was too precious to satisfy the requests of a wider interested public. Not only the cost, but also the weight (14 kg) had made it a precious treasure chest for the few. One thing is exclusivity and another is exclusion. Too many were interested in Schumacher50, but few, very few, could afford it.
And, then, Filippo Di Mario has well thought of creating the “Silver” version, adding the 51st image with a nice gimmick.
The work consists of 62 pages: 11 are of illustrative texts, while 50 are the images that reproduce the paintings of the “Gold” edition in the new format. The peculiarity is that whoever opens the urn containing the book will find on the cover of the publication an upside-down print with the words: “A painted book for Michael Schumacher to be framed”.
Filippo Di Mario’s book “Schumacher50: Images of a story of love and passion”
Yes, because Filippo Di Mario is not just a photographer: he is an artist who has taken oil and acrylic colors in his hand to rework the shots taken on the track and make them dynamic: “In the lens I saw more than what remained imprinted in the image – explains Filippo – and I wanted to add it “.
And then the first image found in the envelope of the book is the work that can be framed and hung, without damaging the precious book. Each image, each painting represents an important moment in Schumacher’s life from the first test with the red in 1996, up to the 2006 Brazilian GP. Fragments of a story in which Di Mario was often an exclusive witness.
