Third row grabbed
It was thought that the third row could be a realistic result to aspire to for the Ferrari in the qualifying at Zandvoort and in fact third row was, at least for Charles Leclerc: the Monegasque Ferrari driver obtained the sixth time in Q3, but received a detachment monsters from pole position by Lando Norris – 9 tenths – and struggling to get the better of Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin and Alex Albon’s Williams. Interviewed by the microphones of Sky Sports F1 Leclerc showed satisfaction with his lap, but understandable disappointment with the final result.
“It was a nice ride, but unfortunately there are days where this doesn’t pay off that much. – commented the Ferrari standard-bearer – 6th place is not the one that makes me smile. As a team we are struggling a bit and we are working. I am sorry because every time I come to the microphones I repeat myself from some race, I keep saying that we are giving our best to try to close the gap and today the situation is this. I gave and tried everything, as a team we are aware of the situation”.
Updates coming soon
After Zandvoort it will arrive Monzaa race in which Ferrari should introduce the new updates on the SF-24i: “We are working hard on the new parts of the car that will arrive soon and I hope that this will allow us to get closer to those in front, because today the gap is 9 tenths and it is really a lot. – Leclerc admitted – there will be a step, but how important it will be, time will tell“.
“This track does not suit the characteristics of our car – concluded the driver from the Principality, looking ahead to tomorrow’s race – we struggle in the long corners, but tomorrow we will try to get as many points as possible. In the end this is our goal until the updates come, which I hope will bring us to fight further ahead. Tomorrow the podium would be a miracle on a track like this: the race pace was not bad, but here it is impossible to overtake“.
