Qualifying among the Monegasque curves turns out to be the most intense of the year and once again confirms a solid McLaren, with Oscar Piastri starting from second position and Lando Norris from fourth.
The Woking team, which brought a special livery to Monte Carlo to remember the “King of Monaco” Ayrton Senna 30 years after his death, has proven to be consistent since the tests, especially with the Australian driver, who between the curves of the principality managed to get his MCL38 behind the unstoppable Charles Leclerc.
Piastri, setting a time of “1’10″424”, was unable to beat the home driver, but still said he was satisfied to start from the front row, underlining the excellent work done by the Ferrari driver all weekend.

“I made a couple of mistakes at the end, but you have to give credit to Charles, who was incredibly fast all weekend. At a certain point no one thought they could get close to him. It’s fine to start from the front row”
Looking at the race, Piastri highlights what the elements are for a good result: making a good start will be fundamental, but it will not be the only key to aiming for victory.
“If you manage to get into the lead you can control the race easily here, that’s probably the first objective, but if we don’t manage to do that the strategy card comes into play. I want to be optimistic, but overtaking here is not easy, we will try to start well and do our best.”
The McLaren driver also wanted to refer to the homage that the team has decided to pay to Senna, stating that the good sensations he has had so far have “something to do with these colours”.
