The Alfa Romeo C42 is nothing new. We had shown it since its first steps, those taken in the Shakedown of Fiorano a few days ago with Valtteri Bottas at the wheel and then at the first pre-season Formula 1 test session in Barcelona. Today, however, it was officially presented, dressed in the new livery.
The C42 of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou presents itself with a new look. A livery looks like white-red, but with the latter shade much more present on the car body.

The red, clearly present on the part of the hood that narrows towards the coca-cola area, also finds a lot of space on the halo and, above all, on the nose of the new born in the Hinwil plants.
A livery that we will have to get used to, because it is significantly different from the last ones, but which gives much more the sense of Alfa Romeo, although the Swiss team, from the Milanese manufacturer, has only the name and nothing more.
The new color scheme was designed and created by the Alfa Romeo Style Center. A mix between the history of the Milanese manufacturer and 30 years in the world of Sauber’s racing. Until the end of the Barcelona tests, the C42 was dressed in a camouflage livery to try to hide as many secrets as possible before the official presentation took place today.
The other seasonal novelty – although it has been known for months – is represented by the pilots. Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou are the new couple who will have to try to bring the Swiss team back higher in the Constructors’ World Championship. The two take the place of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi.
Frédéric Vasseur, Alfa Romeo team principal, spoke during the presentation of the C42 stating: “The beginning of the season is always an exciting time, in which we see the fruit of the work of hundreds of people over a long period of time”.
“The C42 is a car we can’t wait to see racing, not just because it’s the first we’ve built in this new round of regulations, one where racing should be closer and more exciting, but because we have the ultimate confident that this car will help the team take a big step towards the front of the grid. “

The 2022 season is very important because it sees the Formula 1 cars redesigned according to the dictates of the new technical regulations that came into force at the very beginning of this year. Jan Monchaux explains the preparation process that the team took to build the C42.
“As we unveil the C42, it may seem like the start of a new season: we know, however, that this launch is just a milestone in a much longer journey in which all of our Hinwil staff have invested so much time, resources and energy. . Designing and building this car was a huge undertaking and we can be proud of what we have achieved, but our work is not done. “

“As always in a new round of rules, the development curve will be at its steepest this season and we need to continue extracting new performance from the C42 to make the progress we have set as a goal for ourselves.”

Valtteri Bottas is one of the two novelties of the team from the driver’s point of view. After many years of Formula 1 with Mercedes, here he is arriving in a new reality that has also made him sign a multi-year contract. A certificate of esteem for him and the desire to start a long-term path together.
“I am impressed with our new car, the C42. It is my first car at the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, of course, which makes it special, and I am looking forward to being on the starting grid in Bahrain with it. What is exciting is that we have no idea how the first race will go. The tests have helped us to confirm our expectations of where we are, the progress we have made with the car, but now we are approaching the moment that really matters. “
“Since I joined, I’ve seen a lot of motivation within this team: everyone pushes a lot, trying to work harder than others to be competitive, and that in turn gives me that extra boost when I’m in the cockpit.”

These, on the other hand, are the considerations of Guanyu Zhou, a newcomer to Formula 1 who will have the difficult task of bringing home precious points to ensure that Alfa Romeo can move up the ranks of the Constructors’ Championship after finishing in penultimate place in 2021.
“I am fully energized for the season and seeing the C42 in the livery I will race in definitely makes it real. We are at the beginning of a new era, with new cars and new regulations, and this creates an opportunity for all teams to make progress. , since we are all starting from scratch “.
“Everyone at the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN has been incredibly helpful since I walked in and seeing all the hard work, commitment and motivation from everyone, in Hinwil and on the track, fills me with pride and excitement. time to be on the starting grid with this car and to work with my team to bring home the results we are aiming for together. “

To conclude, the words of Robert Kubica, the third Alfa Romeo driver to whom the team’s title sponsor is also linked: Orlen, could not be missing.
“The beginning of a new season is always a time when expectations, hopes and plans come together: this year the stakes are even higher because we are taking a little leap into the unknown with the new regulations. . There has been an incredible amount of work that has gone into this car, the C42, and I can’t wait to see what the team can achieve with it. In my role, I have a goal to deliver all of the possible help in the development of this car: we know how great the room for improvement is at this stage in the life of a car and we know that every update can make a difference, so the work we do at the base will be crucial to obtain results on the track. “
