Two weeks after the first 2022 pre-season test session held at Montmelò in Barcelona, Formula 1 is preparing to face the second and final test session which will be staged in Sakhir, Bahrain, a track on which it will be held a few days later. also the first round of the World Cup.
If the first three days of Catalan testing served the teams to grind kilometers and collect as much data as possible to analyze them and develop the new cars, the Sakhir test will be a much more true reflection of performance.
All teams will no longer be able to hide. The start of the season is looming and it is urgent to understand the real potential of the new single-seaters and then continue the fine-tuning, the testing of new components, and arrive as ready as possible for the start of the new season which will take place on March 20.
The three-day Sakhir test will be held from 10 to 12 March. Drivers and teams will be able to take advantage of all 5 compounds from the 2022 range of tires made by Pirelli – the brand new 18-inch PZero and Cinturato – but the compounds nominated for the first Grand Prix of the year will be the hardest (C1, C2 and C3). This means that we will have to be very careful about the times obtained with those compounds, because they will be the most truthful results for what concerns the performances on the flying lap and on the race simulations.
