Former Bolivian President Evo Morales expressed solidarity on Tuesday with Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, assuring that the political ally is “a victim of the permanent conspiracy of the United States”.
Morales made the statement at the time of the 7th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which took place this Tuesday (24) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Bolivian will not participate in the meeting, since he is not acting head of state. The Venezuelan is also not at the meeting, after having warned on Monday (23) about his withdrawal.
According to the president of Bolivia, “in addition to maintaining a criminal economic blockade and its threats of intervention against the people of Venezuela”, the United States uses the DEA (Drug Control Administration) “to fabricate false accusations”.
“Our solidarity with brother Nicolás Maduro, victim of the permanent US conspiracy,” Morales wrote on Twitter.
The former Bolivian president made the statement after several days of rumors about the Venezuelan’s participation in the CELAC Summit.
Maduro ended up giving up, claiming that there was an “aggression plan” against the delegation he would lead, according to the Venezuelan dictatorship, which accused “right-wing extremists” of leading these plots.
Morales traveled to Buenos Aires where he participated, on Sunday, in an event with the Bolivian community in Argentina. In addition, he met with representatives of social organizations.
