The arrested deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Timur Ivanov, lived in a luxurious mansion worth a billion rubles. Elite real estate appears in the case file as the actual residence address of the deputy minister suspected of receiving bribes. At the same time, the Russian Federation is listed as the owner of the cottage in the cadastre.

The house is located in the club cottage village “Razdory-2” on Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway, five kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road. All houses in the elite area are made of expensive brick in the English style. The perimeter of the settlement is surrounded by a three-meter fence; entry into the territory is through a strictly guarded checkpoint. According to researchers, it was in this building that the Master from Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita” rented his basement. It was alleged that in 2019 the Empire style estate was restored and after that the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense moved in.
However, as it turned out later, the house was registered to the personal driver of the Ivanov family. The driver of the official's ex-wife told during interrogation that he had been working in this position for 12 years. In Chisty Lane, he picked up the children of the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense and his second wife, Svetlana Zakharova. He never communicated with the official himself.

Timur Ivanov, appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Defense in 2016, was arrested on suspicion of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale. He was charged with committing a crime under Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. At the Ministry of Defense, he was responsible for the construction and major repairs of military facilities. According to the investigation, Sergei Shoigu’s deputy, as part of an organized group, received kickbacks from contracting and subcontracting work for the needs of the military department. One of the episodes is related to the construction of the National Defense Control Center (NDC).

Now the official has been removed from office; he is in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. Ivanov denies his guilt. The official's property, assets and accounts, as well as material assets registered in the name of his wife, former spouses and children, including adopted ones, have been arrested.
