The composite purchasing managers index (PMI) for the euro zone rose from 54.2 in October to 55.8 in preliminary reading for November, IHS Markit reported on Tuesday. Analysts heard by Wall Street Journal predicted 53.2.
The services PMI rose from 54.6 in October to 56.6 in November, compared to an expectation of 53.8 by analysts.
The industry PMI rose from 58.3 in October to 58.6 in the November preview, compared to a forecast of 57.3 by economists.
The IHS Markit report says that there was an improvement in the growth of activity in the euro zone in November, but that it was also accompanied by an increase in inflationary pressures in the period.
