Reuters: The European Commission will ease a number of sanctions against Russia on July 15, 2022
In the seventh round of sanctions, scheduled to be adopted on July 15, the European Commission (EC) will adjust a number of restrictions against Russia to avoid problems with the country’s food exports. Reuters with reference to three European officials.
The sanctions that have entered into force will be adjusted in order to prevent their misinterpretation by traders – in particular, the document banning Russian ships from entering EU ports will be amended. In the fifth package of European sanctions, it was stated that the regulators of countries have the right to grant Russian ships access to their ports if they are transporting food or medicine.
However, some foreign traders have stopped trading in food products exported from Russian ports, which are indirectly owned by the country’s sanctioned state-owned companies. According to the source of the agency, in the new package of sanctions, the EU authorities will clarify that the sanctions do not apply to these ports.
