The American magazine Time selected Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas to the list of influential emerging leaders.
Estonian prime minister Kaja Kallas has been chosen by the American Time magazine For the TIME 100 Next listwhere a hundred influential “emerging leaders” have been gathered.
Kallas is introduced by the Prime Minister of Finland in a short text published on the newspaper’s website on Wednesday Sanna Marin (sd). Marin himself was selected for the same list in February of last year.
In the text, Marin tells how Kallas contacted him for the first time just a few hours after Kallas took office as the Prime Minister of Estonia in January 2021.
“Since then, we have worked closely together, strengthening both our bilateral relations and within the European Union,” Marin writes.
Marin continues to be similar to Kallas in many respects.
“We are both ambitious when it comes to changing climate and energy policy. We emphasize the importance of renewable energy and want to reduce our countries’ dependence on fossil energy produced by Russia.”
Marin points out that Kallas has been active in the common front of the EU countries supporting Ukraine. Kallas has been an unwavering support throughout Finland’s NATO application process as well, he states.
“Kaja Kallas leads her country with a strong European conviction, which will undoubtedly deepen even more with the strengthened common defense of our region“, says Marin.
Time magazine’s listing of the 100 most influential people in the world is a tradition that the magazine started in 1999.
