Thorny sea (Granada, 1982) does not have the special seal of Ferraz or La Moncloa, such as the one that has its new boss of ranks, Óscar López. Nor can he boast a remarkable connection with the secretary of the Madrid socialists. Nor has it been one of the great acclaimed in the XV Regional Congress of the PSOE of Madrid, which was held last weekend in Leganés and where the socialist deputy went quite unnoticed. However, she has been chosen to be the new spokeswoman of the Socialist Group in the Madrid Assembly and replace Jesus Celada in that position, whose political mood has little or nothing to do with the splash in the mud that takes now and the increasingly polarized debate that is stipulated.
Why has it been the election of Óscar López, then, to face Isabel Díaz Ayuso every Thursday in the control sessions and stands for the PP in the assembly? In a parliamentary group of only 27 deputies, something diminishing for which they have been separated after the internal seizure that resulted in the resignation of Juan Lobato, finding the perfect profile is not a simple task. The PSOE list was not the one that Oscar López had done, who has to play with the files that has been found until the 2027 elections. Among the possible names, the one of the Espinar Sea was the one that best adapted to what the Secretary General.
Espinar has parliamentary experience. He was already a spokesman for the Socialist Municipal Group at the Madrid City Council, at a stage not much less convulsed than the current one. And, in addition, it moves well in the daily political fight. That is, in the mud, as some ranks. If López wanted someone impulsive, to discuss well, respond to Ayuso with a claw and rudely and lifted the moral of his with their sharp interventions, without shuning the mud of the political debate, surely his was the profile that could approach his most desire. In the end, socialist sources comment, “it has similar forms to those of Ayuso, it will be like putting it before a mirror.”
The new spokeswoman in the Assembly had Antonio Miguel Carmona as a political courage, away from politics and even more from this PSOE. In the 2015 municipal elections, he was the candidate for mayor of Madrid and faced two politicians’ monsters such as Esperanza Aguirre and Manuela Carmena. He took Mar Espinar in his team, whom he knew for his father, professor of international law. Some companions of the time describe Espinar at that time as a young “Pizpireta, Espabillada, Worker and prepared”, willing to eat the world. On that list, by the way, there was also Mercedes González.
Espinar assumed the spokesman of the PSOE municipal group in Madrid in September 2021, replacing Pepu Hernández. Espinar did not have the confidence of Sánchez, as seen in his commitment, who wanted to put the minister Reyes Maroto to compete for the mayor’s office in 2023. Espinar resigned to plant battle in primary ones that sensed lost, and turned away from The internal fight, as Enma López and Mercedes González have already done.
Juan Lobato rescued her for her candidacy in the 2023 regional elections, as number eight, for her ability to work and for her good knowledge of the territory and local groups. In the most complicated hours of exportevoz, when he was forced to resign, Mar Espinar was one of the people of the socialist group who accompanied him the most. And when Lobato went to the second row, once defnestrated, he occupied the seat next to him, and that at that time ‘burned’. That closeness to Lobato, and the clash he had maintained before with Mercedes González in the City Council, took her away from the ‘blessings’ of Ferraz and Moncloa, but the current moment is conducive to her.
In the ranks of the PSOE of Madrid, some sources comment on their ability to “adapt” to the different circumstances, or leaders, of the always moved Socialist Party of Madrid. Other sources praise their parliamentary function, but do not hesitate to underline their willingness to change equipment according to the situation.
