ERC has also requested the appearance of the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondobecause they consider that, “as the person most responsible for safeguarding women’s rights,” it must “give an urgent response and be on the front line” to ensure that the Ministry of Social Security prioritize solving what they consider a “very serious error.”
“We consider that it is a priority that both ministries give all the necessary explanations to repair the situation, expose the measures they intend to adopt to solve the error and to guarantee that this does not happen again,” they emphasize.
Organic Law 1/2023, of February 28, on sexual and reproductive health and voluntary interruption of pregnancy, which modified the General Social Security Law to recognize the right to temporary sick leave for women with painful menstruation and due to termination of pregnancy.
