Wind turbines with a maximum height of approximately 260 meters will be erected on Pieksämäki by the end of 2024.

Pieksämäki Eastern Finland’s largest wind farm will be built on Niinimäki within a couple of years.

A total of 22 wind turbines are scheduled to be completed at the Niinimäki wind farm by the end of 2024. The power plants are supposed to produce more than 400 gigawatt hours of electricity per year. It corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of more than 80,000 households.

The calculation has been made on the assumption that the household consumes 5,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

The wind farm will be implemented as a joint investment of Helsinki energy company Helen and the Ålandsbanken Tuulivoima Special Investment Fund. This is the fourth wind power project of Helen and the Bank of Åland.

The renewable energy company OX2 is responsible for the construction and technical and financial management of the power plants.

The maximum height of the power plants coming to the park is 258 meters. According to OX2’s press release, the park generates around 800,000 euros in real estate tax revenue for Pieksämäki every year.
