Another exemplary race management by David Alonsowhich this time rewards the Colombian after two consecutive GPs finished off the podium. For the #80 of the Leopard team, this is the eighth win of the season, which allows him to get ever closer to winning the world title with six races to go, even more so after the penalty inflicted on Daniel Holgado in the final. The Spaniard, who had finished behind Angel Piquerasin fact lost a position for having exceeded the track limits several times, with the Iberian now 82 points behind (exactly like Ortolà) and giving third place to Collin Veijer.
Race report
The first half of the race had not yet turned into a nightmare for Furusato, who yesterday took his first pole position but was later penalized with a long lap for exceeding the track limits, and after almost making contact with Piqueras in an overtaking attempt. The Japanese had managed to maintain the lead at the start over a group of drivers made up of Alonso, Ortolà, Piqueras, Fernandez and Holgado, only to then fall out of the top 10. The most interesting part of the Emilia-Romagna GP was obviously concentrated in the last ten laps, despite no battles between Alonso, Holgado, Piqueras and Veijer. In fact, all four kept the gaps stable, but without attempting attacks or decisive maneuvers that would have been valid for the podium or victory. All this only happened on the penultimate lap with Holgado’s decisive overtaking of Alonso, which also cost the Colombian 2nd place. However, the Leopard driver managed to ‘get his revenge’ during the twentieth and final lap, taking back the lead ahead of Piqueras and Holgado. The latter, in addition, then received a penalty for exceeding the track limits right at the last corner, thus dropping back to 4th behind Veijer.
