Home charging for electric cars evolves thanks to Elli Charger 2, the new wallbox from the Volkswagen Group brand, which renews its range of products linked to sustainable mobility with a new infrastructure for recharging EVs capable of allow a significant reduction in charging costs. Customers can purchase an electric vehicle, the wallbox and activate a contract for the electricity supply in a simple and integrated way, with a single interlocutor.
Charging at home and at work
In addition to this, in the future it will be possible to have access to a photovoltaic panel system through selected sales channels. On the occasion of the launch of the new wallbox, Elli announced a strategic partnership with Otovo, a European solar panel company, to offer e-drivers holistic and innovative energy solutions for their homes. The new Elli Charger 2 will be available in four variants and can charge any electric vehicle with a Type 2 socket. Thanks to the new measurement functions, the resulting cost transparency and dynamic load management, the new Elli Charger 2 can be used not only in private homes, but also in commercial contexts.
Elli’s smart features
The new Elli Charger 2 will be able to exploit domestic solar energy production (charging via photovoltaic surplus) but also to use the new Volkswagen Naturstorm Flex (optimized charging based on market price) to recharge at lower costs, when the demand is low or there is high availability of renewable energy. To do this, in July 2023 Elli acquired the license to operate on the European Electricity Exchange. By optimizing charging profiles based on electricity costs and using home solar energy, you can save up to 40%.
