Energy, bills rise devastating for the country’s economy: the purchasing power of citizens decreases and more costs for businesses. The Analysis
Sting or robbery, call it what you want. What is certain is that theincrease from the electricity bills (55%) e gas (41%) will have a devastating effect on our economy. The tariffs have in fact increased by about three and a half times in the last 12 months, despite the 3.8 billion euros of tax cuts included by the Draghi government in the new budget law.
Every Italian family will have to spend an extra 1,000 euros on bills (441 euros more for electricity and 567 euros for gas). Not to mention the higher energy costs that companies will have to bear and which consequently will fall on the last link of the supply chain, namely consumers. I am Andrea Pasini, an entrepreneur from Trezzano Sul Naviglio and I believe that in the short term there will be a cascading effect on goods and services that will push the level of inflation even higher.
According to Istat, the consumer price index in November reached + 3.7% compared to the previous year. This is the highest level since 2008, reached with a significant jump from the October figure of + 3%. Italian inflation is above the EU harmonized index (+ 3.4% in November) and almost one point above the French one, which reached + 2.8%. The prices of the so-called “shopping cart”Which includes food, household and personal care grew by + 1.2%. The prices of high-frequency purchasing products, on the other hand, went from + 3.1% to + 3.7%. Consumer prices also grow by divisions of expenditure of essential goods: housing, water, electricity and fuel (from + 11.4% to + 14.1%) and transport (from + 8.7% to + 10.5% ).
To underline the impact that the increase in bills will have on the entire supply chain is Coldiretti who in a note explains how the increase in energy expenditure has a double negative effect: it reduces the purchasing power of citizens and families and at the same time increases the costs of businesses.
The Mestre CGIA also predicts that in the first six months of 2022, 500,000 Italian workers are at risk of staying at home. Businesses will in fact be forced to shut down their machinery, at least temporarily, to cope with this price explosion. These are companies in every sector, from those of glass, paper, ceramics, cement and plastic to those of food, up to those that represent the made in Italy in the world. According to the estimates of the CGIA, the annual variations in tariffs in some sectors risk reaching even + 250%.
A example concrete. For cultivation operations, farmers have been forced to face price increases of up to 50% for the diesel fuel needed for activities that include grubbing, rolling, sowing and fertilization. Furthermore, the surge in the cost of gas, used in the fertilizer production process, has caused fertilizer prices to skyrocket. And it does not end there, the increase in costs also affects the feeding of livestock, the heating of greenhouses.
This crazy increase in bills does not affect SMEs, the true soul of our country. Even the Swedish giant Ikea announced in a statement that he is forced to raise prices by 9% to manage transport costs and supply prices. Now the topic on which to seriously start thinking is onenergy autonomy of our country.
A certain politics blinded by a mere ideology, obtuse and antiquated must stop always setting itself against everything that can make energetically our country autonomous without having to buy totally from neighboring countries with our energy and gas. The latest generation nuclear power plants, for example, are safe and do not pollute and would allow us to be able to produce energy at an affordable cost.
