Xiaomi is preparing to officially enter the world of electric cars. Shortly before the end of this month, March 28 to be precise, the Chinese giant will reveal the prices of its first fully electric car, the SU7 sedan, waiting to announce the start of deliveries also expected in March. Initially the model will be available in China, where 59 stores in 29 cities are ready to receive orders, but Xiaomi has plans for global sales as well.
To grow up
The debut of the new SU7 comes more than 1,000 days after Xiaomi's first announcement of its intention to join the world of electric cars. The initial investment made by the Chinese IT company was around 1.3 billion euros, but within the next ten years this figure is expected to increase to around 10 billion euros. The long-term goal? Become one of the top five automobile manufacturers in the world within the next 15-20 years.
Xiaomi SU7, the first of many
“We are ready to compete with Porsche and Tesla and create a dream electric car for the new era of the automotive industry”Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun declared in December last year, clearly referring to the new SU7. The first of many: this sedan will in fact lead the way for one range of new electric models which will be launched by the Chinese company in the coming years. Among these, there should also be an SUV, although details are very limited.
