SÃO PAULO, Sep 14 (Reuters) – The campaign of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) filed a lawsuit with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) this Wednesday to question YouTube about the alleged privilege given to content by favor of president and reelection candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in recommendations made by the site to users.
The alleged favoring of pro-Bolsonaro content on YouTube, especially videos from Jovem Pan, was pointed out the day before in a study by NetLab, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Sought after, YouTube did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
MORAES REJECTS HANG’S REQUEST
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), this Wednesday denied a request by Luciano Hang’s defense to refer the investigation against him and other Bolsonarista businessmen to the lower court. that goes through the court.
In the decision, Moraes claimed that it would be “absolutely premature” to send the case to the first instance because the Federal Police lacks an analysis of the materials obtained in the search and seizure and in the breaches of confidentiality of the businessmen.
Target of criticism from Bolsonaro, Moraes’ authorization at the request of the PF to search and apprehend and breaches of confidentiality was based on a report by the website Metrópoles that pointed out that these businessmen were part of a WhatsApp group in which a coup d’état was preached. in the event of Lula’s victory in the October election.
MILITARY GUIDELINES
The Ministry of Defense published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette the guidelines for the use of the Armed Forces in the operation to guarantee voting, counting and logistical support for this year’s elections.
The plan, signed by Defense Minister General Paulo Sérgio Nogueira de Oliveira, details a series of actions on how the Army, Navy and Air Force should act in support of the election.
The document, however, makes no mention of the work of the military in supervising the electoral process itself, a reason for great controversy between the TSE and President Jair Bolsonaro.
OWN CAUSE
A Genial/Quaest survey released this Wednesday found that 60% of respondents believe that the economic measures recently announced by the Bolsonaro government are primarily intended to contribute to the president’s reelection attempt, against 62% who had this assessment a week ago.
According to the survey, 35% believe that the intention of the measures was to help people, against 32% before, and 5% did not know how to respond, compared to 6%.
Among the measures criticized as electoral votes by critics of Bolsonaro, there is an increase of 200 reais in the value of Auxílio Brasil, valid by law only until the end of this year, but which the president has promised during the campaign to make permanent, although the measure has not included in the budget proposal sent by the government to Congress.
TO ATTACK
Lula’s campaign decided to leave the corner and attack Bolsonaro on the issue of corruption. PT’s TV program on Tuesday night listed scandals in the current government and also cited suspicions of irregularities involving the president and his family.
“Bolsonaro says that there is no corruption with him, so how does he explain the corruption in the Ministry of Education, which exchanged public funds for gold bars? How does he explain enacting 100-year secrecy in several of his government’s scandals? How does he explain the case of the cracks and how does he explain that his family bought 51 properties paying in cash?” states the advertisement.
“Bolsonaro doesn’t cheat, it’s a family-sized scandal”, he adds.
