A brave fan of Elden Ring she managed to defeat Margit using a harp as a controller. The harpist Anna Ellsworth posted the company on YouTube.
The fight itself turns out to be pretty good, with Ellsworth overcoming many of Margit’s attacks and taking care of the minor damage she takes. What’s even more impressive is that he beat Margit without wearing any in-game armor – a risky move, even if it makes the character more agile.
Ellsworth explains that the musical instrument is connected to his PC and is then run through two programs: one that detects pitches and turns them into MIDI and another that takes that sound and ties it to a keystroke. This allows the harpist to pluck certain strings to move forward, left or back indefinitely until it goes in another direction or the movement is canceled altogether.
“The problem is that my controls are limited with this setup“he explains on Reddit. “For example, I can’t sprint at all, and since dodging and moving in a different direction are two separate threads (and the program can only recognize one at a time), my strategy is mainly to walk forward and dodge directly into attacks. It can be a bit unreliable“.
This isn’t the first time the harpist has used his harp as a controller to defeat enemies in Elden Ring – the first was the tree sentry.
