The Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk Region has opened a criminal case against eight police officers who are suspected of taking bribes. The person involved in another criminal case was the owner of the funeral business, to whom the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as the investigation believes, transferred information about the dead for bribes.

According to the investigation, from 2020 to 2021, an individual entrepreneur who organized the funeral through an intermediary transferred bribes to the precinct commissioners of the police department, as well as to the operational duty officer and his assistant.
The bribes were intended for providing the entrepreneur with information about the dead on the territory of the Shelekhovsky district of the Irkutsk region.
The total amount of bribes was at least 280 thousand rubles. Criminal cases were initiated under Part 3 of Art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, clause “a” part 5 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The suspects have been detained.
With regard to the entrepreneur, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. The officers of the internal affairs bodies have been elected a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place and proper behavior. They admitted guilt for the deed, cooperate with the investigation.
On November 19, on suspicion of taking a bribe, the first deputy chief of the Moscow Emergency Situations Directorate, Andrei Mishchenko, and another official of the department, Viktor Samarin, were detained. According to the source, the detainees received 50 thousand rubles for passports for commercial organizations. Another case is being investigated in relation to a bribery broker.
