The accident resulted from a tourist bus colliding with a transport vehicle on the Abu Simbel tourist road, killing 4 French, a Belgian and 5 Egyptians, and injuring 8 French and 6 Belgians.
Al-Sisi commented on the accident via a post on his Facebook page, saying: “I am closely following the accident of the tourist bus collision with a transport vehicle in Aswan Governorate, and directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary measures, follow-up and provide all aspects of medical and treatment care for the victims of the tragic accident, and directed to provide all I extend my support to the families of the victims and the injured.”
He added, “I extend my sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased.”
The Egyptian authorities addressed the embassies of France and Belgium in Cairo and notified them of the incident.
An official source told “Sky News Arabia” that the notification of the embassies of the foreign victims came in order to send representatives to follow up the procedures for transferring the bodies of the dead and treating the injured, as well as the progress of the ongoing investigations into the circumstances of the accident by the Egyptian authorities.
In this context, the Public Prosecutor ordered an urgent investigation into the accident. The Public Prosecution found that the tourist bus was on its way to Abu Simbel when the collision occurred.
An investigation team from members of the Public Prosecution Office moved to question the injured at Aswan University Hospital, and investigations with them concluded that the incident had occurred as a result of a car-bus collision on the Abu Simbel Tourist Road, which led to their deviation from the road and the bus fire.
The prosecution examined the bodies of the deceased, and assigned the forensic doctor to sign a medical examination on them and take genetic fingerprint samples, including a statement of the reasons and how the death occurred, and to determine their identities as a result of charring.
The Public Prosecution also inspected the scene of the accident, and assigned the General Department of Criminal Evidence Investigation to remove the antiquities in it and conduct the necessary technical inspection to determine the cause of the incident.
The Public Prosecution also assigned the technical engineer in charge of the Traffic Department to examine the two vehicles to determine the safety of the steering and brake devices in them.
