The eighth edition of the EDP Solidaria program kicks off. This initiative of the EDP Foundation increases its endowment in 2022, which reaches one million euros, of which a minimum of €400,000 will be reserved for proposals within the area of energy. The funds will be allocated to projects promoted by non-profit entities aimed at caring for the elderly, rural development and the fight against depopulation or access to energy and energy efficiency. In addition, this edition allows, as happened in 2021, the presentation of proposals aimed at fighting the consequences of the crisis generated by COVID 19.
The EDP Solidaria program seeks proposals that address social and environmental problems in an innovative and sustainable manner, that incorporate elements that facilitate their scalability and that produce the maximum positive impact on the environment in which they are developed.
In 2022, the program incorporates important novelties, especially highlighting the possibility that consortiums or groups of entities in which companies participate can submit proposals, as long as said consortiums are led by a non-profit entity that meets the requirements established in the regulation .
Those entities that have designed projects that have not started in any of the aforementioned areas can present their candidacy until next March 31 at the
EDP Foundation websitewhere you can also find and consult the regulations for this edition.
The EDP Foundation will finance a maximum of 75% of the approved proposals, except in the case of proposals in the energy area, where financing may reach up to 90% of the total.
More than 75 entities participated in the 2021 edition, of which 23 were selected, receiving a total of 800,000 euros to promote and develop their initiatives. Among the selected projects are entities such as Asociación Paz y Bien, located in Andalusia, with a project to improve access to information technologies for 111 people with intellectual disabilities, their families and reference professionals, residing in rural municipalities; Adopt a Grandfather, who with his project “Grandparents Hackers” seeks to alleviate the digital gap of the elderly to promote their autonomy, improving their self-sufficiency and expanding their socialization and leisure options or an essay by the Research Foundation to beat Cancer with COVID-19 patients.
Since it was launched in 2015, EDP Solidaria has supported 144 projects in Spain, to which it has allocated a total of more than 4 million euros. Between all the initiatives, almost 440,000 people and 100 entities have benefited.
