Rome – Some armed men with their faces covered by balaclavas broke into the studio of a public channel in the port city of Guayaquil, in Ecuador, an area long devastated by violence and drugs. The men took several journalists and technicians hostage.

“Don't shoot, please don't shoot,” a woman shouted as shots rang out and the attackers, armed with rifles and grenades, forced the terrified people present to stay on the ground. The National Police, in a short statement, said that all its units in Quito and Guayaquil “were alerted after this criminal act and are already at the site of the attack”.
The police managed to enter the television studios and regain control of itevacuating workers and arresting attackers.
