Earthquake today at Campi Flegrei: epicenter, magnitude and latest news
Today, 16 October 2023, at 12.36 pm a 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Campi Flegrei. An area that has been in upheaval for several days now, creating some anxiety among the local population. The shock was recorded by Engv. The earthquake was located at a depth of 2 km. An earthquake clearly felt by the inhabitants of the area, who then commented on social media about the moments of fear they experienced. At the moment there has been no damage to property or people.
The earthquake occurred between Campi Flegrei and Pozzuoli, adding further concerns to an area already hit by numerous seismic tremors in recent days. The earthquake was felt throughout the entire area considered at risk in the red zone of the Campi Flegrei and in the western districts of Naples, with particular intensity in Quarto, Pianura, Bagnoli and Fuorigrotta.
In recent years, but in particular in recent months, bradyseism – the geological phenomenon that distinguishes the Campi Flegrei – is a particularly felt problem, since the phenomenon is experiencing an acute phase. Citizens are worried, but INGV, which constantly monitors the Phlegraean supervolcano, is keen to point out that there is no imminent danger in the area.
