Earthquake in Crete of magnitude 5.5: developed in the sea south of the Greek island at a depth of 20 km and 15 km away from Pyrgos
An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck Crete, today Wednesday 29 December at 6:08 am Italian time (7:08 am local time in the earthquake zone), developing in the sea south of the Greek island at a depth of 20 kilometers.
According to data released on Twitter by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv), 15 kilometers away from the village of Pyrgos. It is not clear at the moment whether there has been damage to people or property caused by the earthquake.
Last December 26, two other earthquakes of magnitude 5.3 and 5.1 were recorded in the sea near Crete (to the east, 10 kilometers deep).
