Development studio Bay 12 Games and publisher Kitfox Games have announced availability on Steam of the beta version of the adventure mode Of Dwarf Fortresswhich lets you create a character and freely roam around the simulated world you've made a home in during Fortress Mode.

The beta will be playable by anyone who owns Dwarf Fortress on Steam. To access it, right-click the game title in your library, then click Properties -> Betas. Then click on the drop-down menu and choose “beta – Public beta branch”. No password needed to activate it. Once you do this, Steam will begin automatically downloading the files needed to add adventure mode to the game.
The game's new soundtrack will also be released soon, boasting an hour of music by the duo Dabu and Simon Swerwer. If you own the base game you can order it with a 10% discount. You can still find it on various services, such as Bandcamp, Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music.
The developers are keen to warn you that the adventure mode is still in beta and is therefore still in active development. Expect unexpected bugs and issues, then, as well as more updates in the future with features not yet added.
