The Dune film series has been a success and will probably continue with the positive results in the third and final film. The positive results have made possible (or even just facilitated) the creation of additional works, such as the TV series Dune: Prophecy.
We are talking about a prequel set 10,000 years earlier the events of the most recent films. The story will tell of the formation of the Bene Gesserit, well known to fans of the saga. At the center of the story will be two sisters – Harkonnen to be precise – and one of the leading actresses – Emily Watson, who plays Valya Harkonnen – spoke about the series, explaining that it’s not a childish work like Star Wars.
The words of the actress of Dune: Prophecy
“It is built around the order of the Bene Gesserit. It’s the sisterhood. It’s one of the central characters, and all the universes that they control, and their power… it’s quite fascinating,” Watson tells Total Film in the latest issue.
Speaking instead of the Harkonnenthough Watson says they’re still “a bit of a messed up family,” the clan will be “recognizably human and layered” and “less extreme” than their movie counterparts set millennia in the future.
“It was very exciting, but also very nice to go into that world with the confidence of knowing that I had the skills to make it all look real,” Watson says. “It’s a very interesting palette. because it’s not childish… it’s not like Star Wars. He has a moral complexity, which is interesting.”
Remember that Dune Prophecy will be available via Sky and Now in November 2024, in Italy. If you prefer video games, we remind you that we tried Dune: Awakening.
