The quarrel between Drake and Ye, as Kanye West is called these days, seems to have finally been settled. After the rappers were spotted together earlier this month at Drake’s house, among other things, there is now confirmation that the two will perform together at a benefit concert next month.
The concert where the two former rivals will perform together is a benefit for American prisoner Larry Hoover. Hoover is a well-known Chicago gang leader who has been serving a life sentence since 1997 for involvement in a 1973 murder. The 70-year-old has been involved in gang violence for years from prison and also campaigned for education for young band members. Many people therefore think that he has been punished enough and deserves a second chance. The rappers support these people, including Hoover’s son, and therefore want to contribute to Hoover’s early release.
“I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but also prove to people everywhere how much more we can achieve if we put our pride aside and come together,” Ye said in a statement. Drake also shared the announcement on Instagram and added a “fingers crossed” emoji.
The Free Larry Hoover benefit concert on December 9 will be Drake’s first public appearance after his performance at the Astroworld festival in early November. Ten people were killed and dozens injured in the crowd at this Houston party.
