DOOM Eternal could be about to receive the mod supportbased on some Suspicious additions detected on SteamDB which suggest the imminent arrival of applications of this kind linked to the id Software game.
In fact, already in 2018 the developers had mentioned the possibility that support for mods could be launched for DOOM Eternal, but the question was not followed up, at least on the official front, and the past years have effectively extinguished hopes for the arrival of this support.
However, something may have moved on this front, considering that some users have detected changes to the Steam database regarding the game in question, with a new introduction entitled “DoomModPortal.exe” appeared on SteamDB.
Official support coming soon?
Considering the name of the executable file, it is easy to think that it could be something related to mods, although its arrival 4 years after the release of DOOM Eternal would be rather unusual.
These additions appeared recently and without any warning, so we await any communications from id Software. The team, in 2018, reported that support for mods was possible in the future: “I can't say if it's something right around the corner, but it's an important question for me”, the director reported in particular, Marty Stratton.
In the meantime, several unofficial mods have been released for DOOM Eternal, some of which are also very successful, but official support would obviously change the landscape and could lead to a notable increase in contributions in this sense.
