Once again the third richest person in Mexico, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, showed himself with the character that characterizes him. This time, raised suspicions with a political message launched through his Twitter account ‘@RicardoBSalinas’.
“Do not steal and do not lie” was part of what was published weeks before the elections on June 2, but does the owner of Elektra and other companies have political interests? Did he speak against any party or character?
No and no, the answer to both questions. Salinas Pliego Yeah spoke indirectly about the Fourth Transformation (4T)although he himself has clarified on more than one occasion that the criticism is not towards Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and Morena, but from the political class, that is, from those who come to power.
The message from the also owner of Banco Azteca and Totalplay asked the population to go out and vote on election dayand then call them ‘gobiernícolas’, as is customary.
In addition, he mentioned the conflict that Grupo Salinas has with the Tax Administration Service (SAT), to whom it owes 63,000 million pesos in taxes according to the tax debt file released by the Mexican government.
“Let’s resist and go out to vote, the #Governments have to understand that we have the right NOT to be robbed or extorted by them with the only justification that they know how to spend the money that we earn with our work!!!!”, public.
To top it off, Salinas Pliego launched a phrase that could well be used as a campaign slogan from a liberal politician:
“Not stealing and not allowing ourselves to be robbed… it’s fair, right?”
This publication was accompanied by a phrase by Ludwig Vos Mises “If they continue resisting their lies, we continue repeating the truth.”
Background
To understand the above, you should know that for years Salinas Pliego has used his social networks, interviews and other communication channels to refer to the government as ‘gobiernícolas’, that is, rulers with old ways of thinking.
With that definition as a usual qualifier, the businessman has criticized the tax collection system, the mechanisms to promote entrepreneurship, as well as public policies related to different areas of the nation.
